SIGN the Petition to END SPECIAL RIGHTS !
For more than 120 years, the Statue of Liberty has welcomed all who would enter with the words of Emma Lazarus, penned in 1883.
Lady Liberty has stood as a symbol of open arms to the "tired, huddled masses yearning to be free." There are no qualifiers in the text.
When did her warm welcome turn to a cold heart? Which immigrants are acceptable and which are not? Who has the power to decide?
Weren't most of us or our families welcomed at some point to this “land of freedom”?
Singer/songwriter Gary Floyd has woven together the words of Emma Lazarus, Buddha and Jesus to remind us all that we are, indeed, one family .
“Who will light the way for those tired, broken masses seeking no more than we, ourselves, have been so generously afforded?
Each of us is called upon to respond: "Look no further, it is I."
