 It
is a moral issue when our nation's legal system provides the poor an inferior
level of justice than received by the wealthy. The death penalty has
proven to be no deterrent to crime. Still, most people support it even
though we know innocent people are sentenced to death every day. As one of the
only civilized countries in the world still practicing the death penalty, the
US leads the world in executions, along with such countries as China, Iran and
Vietnam. What does that say about us as a people? State-sponsored violence
is a brutal immoral example to the world. Hope for Peace & Justice will
stand up as the advocate for mercy and compassion. [MORE]
