Wednesday, Week Four

I had lunch recently with someone who I'd always thought was a bit arrogant. What I discovered was that they were actually just an introvert and slow to initiate relationships. I left the meal furious. It really made me mad that I'd misjudged him. Mostly I was mad because I, too, am an introvert and have been misjudged in the same way. How on earth could I fail to extend the same grace that I needed myself? More frustrating still is the question of in what other areas am I critical and judgmental when the fault is mine as well.

Perhaps the only safe approach is to suspend judgment and criticism altogether. Oh yeah, maybe that is why Jesus said, “Judge not …”
