Day Five, Week Three
I recently read the phrase “minority voters,” and I wondered who they were talking about. In my hometown of Dallas, white people are the minority in a city where the majority of citizens are people of color. That phrase—minority voters—also reminded me of the day the majority voted against Jesus and for Barabbas.
I keep thinking that people of faith probably ALWAYS should be minority voters. We ought to be the ones casting our lives for a different way:
A way of peace
A way of mercy
A way of equity
A way of mutuality
A way of tenderness with the vulnerable
A way of confrontation with the powerful
A way of light
A way of healing
What would it look like if, just today, you cast your life as the minority vote for a different way? Any other choice is the way of Barabbas over Jesus. Blessings,
