Day Four, Week Three
In Kurt Vonnegut's novel Hocus Pocus the character Ed proposes that a gigantic epitaph be carved in the Grand Canyon “for the flying saucer people to find” after all the humans have “gone belly up like guppies in a neglected fishbowl”:
We could have saved it,
but we were too darn cheap and lazy.
I'm not sure I'd use the word “cheap” ... ”greedy” perhaps. We want it all and have convinced ourselves that we can be good people without inconveniencing ourselves or changing our lifestyles. WE CANNOT. Blessings,
