Friday, Week Eight

It is a very great poverty to decide that a child must die that you might live as you wish.

Now, I suspect that Mother Teresa had abortion in mind when she said that, but the statement haunts me for a totally different reason. I keep wondering how my over-consuming lifestyle impacts those who simply wish to live.

What if we evaluated every choice we make by Mother Teresa's standard? No, I don't want to live like that either, but I also don't want to pretend that how I do live has no impact on others. That is a lie, and, when I came out of the closet, I decided to stop living a lie.
