Monday, Week Six

We have a number of new readers joining us today. We welcome you with our prayer that something in these daily words might inspire, challenge or comfort you.

We call these Liberating Words because Jesus promised, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32) He wasn't claiming that what he was saying to them was the liberating truth, and I certainly don't make that claim for these brief meditations. Rather, all any preacher, speaker or author can hope is that something in their work stirs an awareness and self-revelation within you. In that way, we come to know the truth that sets us free.

Fundamentalists of every faith act as though they have a corner on the “truth market.” It is time for us to refute that claim by opening ourselves up to the Spirit in such a way that devotion becomes a part of our daily lives. Then we may all hear a liberating word.
