Justice Issues
The
same quality of justice for the poor as for the rich. It is
a moral issue when our nation's legal system provides the
poor an inferior level of justice than that received by
the wealthy. The death penalty has proven to be no deterrent
to crime. Still, most people support it, even though we
know innocent people are sentenced to death every day.
As one of the only civilized countries in the world still
practicing the death penalty, the U.S. leads the world
in executions, along with such countries as China, Iran
and Vietnam. What does that say about us as a people? State-sponsored
violence is a brutal, immoral example to the world. Hope
for Peace & Justice is standing
up as an advocate for mercy and compassion.
