On Tuesday, Texas voters will decide whether to ban same-sex marriage with a constitutional amendment. There are numerous other implications if this amendment passes including the jeopardy of all marriage within Texas if an activist judge were to uphold the strict interpretation of the text of the amendment.

Republican Texas Attorney General and former Supreme Court Justice, Greg Abbott said in a ruling, “When we interpret our state constitution, we rely heavily on its literal text and are to give effect to its plain language.”

Methodist Church re-enforces
discriminatory policy
UMC defrocks lesbian minister

"There's really no question that the United Methodist Church practices discrimination," said Rev. Irene "Beth" Stroud, who was defrocked on Monday, October 31 for being lesbian.

The highest court within the United Methodist Church defrocked Stroud for violating the denomination's ban on "self-avowed, practicing homosexual" clergy.

Stroud, 35, who became an associate pastor at Philadelphia's First United Methodist Church of Germantown in 1999, has said she never revealed her sexual orientation in documents related to her ordination, but didn't keep it a secret.

She said she decided to come out in 2003 because she felt she was being held back in her faith by not sharing the complete truth about her life.

"It's a sad day for me and for my family and for my congregation and, I think, a sad day for the United Methodist Church," said Shroud who will continue as a lay staff member at her congregation, preaching, supervising children's and youth work and conducting pastoral visits.

Tell the Methodist Church's Council of Bishops to stop the discrimination and intolerance of homosexuals within their church!
