On August 1, Hope for Peace & Justice will launch its first comprehensive membership campaign. The ultimate goal is to persuade 1,000 people to become partners with H4PJ. We will ask our partners to:

• Read our communications and stay informed about current issues confronting our society. Through weekly e-blasts, concerts, art events, books, articles, blogs and more, we will seek to make complex and important issues accessible to people who have limited time, but who want to change the world.
• Pray, meditate or in some way spend a few moments each day giving spiritual energy to moving the world away from conflict and injustice. This may be as simple as adding a prayer for the hungry to a blessing at meals, but, as a faith-based organization, we ask people to bring their religious practices to bear in seeking to heal our world.
• Give a few cents to peace and justice. If 1,000 people gave .87 cents a day to H4PJ, our entire budget would be funded. Or if each of us would give just one percent of our salary we would have all the funds we need. We ask that our members give their change for change.
• Commit one act of justice or peacemaking every week: write a letter or email, make a phone call, attend a meeting, confront someone in power. Don’t just feel angry or frustrated, or whine or complain, but do one thing every week that will move our world toward justice and peace. Fifty-two thousand acts of peace and justice can make a world of difference.

We recognize that there are hundreds of organizations worthy of our attention and support. It is not our goal to have thousands of partners, or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our intention is to be a focused, nimble, responsive organization equipping and mobilizing progressive people of faith.

We can’t do it all, but we all must do something. This is something all of us can do!
